Railways to operate 10 special trains from Kerala; now book tickets 30 minutes before departure
Chennai/New Delhi: In a relief to passengers planning to travel in the coming days, ahead of the upcoming Puja, Diwali festive season, more trains are scheduled to be operated in the country. This would result in at least 10 more special train services from Kerala to other states.
As per sources, these trains would be mainly operated to Bihar, Bengal and Gujarat. Some service may continue even after the festive season. All these train services will be equipped with parcel services.
Indian Railways on Wednesday said that the Railway Board has given its approval to run 39 pairs of additional special trains in various zones, out of the 200 services proposed by each zones.

- Ernakulam – Patna (16359)
- Patna – Ernakulam (22643)
- Nagercoil – Shalimar
- Thiruvananthapuram – Shalimar
- Thiruvananthapuram – Veraval
- Nagercoil – Gandhidham
- Ernakulam – Okha
- Happa – Tirunelveli
Festive season special trains
Southern Railway has proposed a special train from Mangaluru to any one among the stations Santragachi, Howrah, Guwahati or Dibrugarh on Mondays. The train has been demanded from October 19 to November 11.
On Wednesdays, from Kochuveli to any one among the stations Santragachi, Howrah, Guwahati or Dibrugarh. This is demanded from October 21 to November 25.
Meanwhile, SR said that with more relaxations in force, service will resume in a phased manner.
More services will soon begin to Bengaluru, Vijayawada and Hyderabad. At present there are no services to Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra.
Booking allowed before 30 minutes
Also, from today, passengers can book train tickets 30 minutes before the departure of the train. Earlier, the Railways had closed the reservation two hours before the train’s departure. This was to find time for health thermal scanning of passengers at the railway stations before the journey. As the Railways started operating more train services, relaxation was given on booking tickets.
