Kannur: The Southern Railways have put an end to the distribution of daytime sleeper tickets in the Thiruvananthapuram division following complaints that reserved seats are being taken over by those with daytime sleeper tickets.
Currently, the decision will be applicable on trains that depart from Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, the provision of daytime sleeper class tickets will continue in those trains en route to Thiruvananthapuram.
Reportedly, passengers can board the de-reserved coaches of 20 morning trains using sleeper tickets.
The trains are: Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai Netravati Express (16346), Alappuzha-Chennai Superfast (22640), Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Express (16347/16348), Chennai-Mangalore-Chennai Mail (12601/12602), Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore-Thiru. Malabar (16629/16630), Mangalore-Chennai-Mangalore West Coast (22638/22637), Chennai-Kollam Ananthapuri (16723/16724), Kannur-Yesvantpur (16528), Chennai-Alappuzha Superfast (22639), Mangalore-Chennai Egmore (16160/16159), Thiruvananthapuram-Secunderabad Sabari (17229), Kanyakumari-Pune (16382), Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai (12624) and Kanyakumari-Bengaluru Express (16525).
