Thrissur: Kerala’s Vande Bharat Express has been allowed a two-minute stop at Shoranur Junction in Palakkad. The Railway Board has issued an order in this regard. However, the train will not stop at Tirur station in Malappuram and Chengannur in Alappuzha. Also, the train will not operate Thursdays.
With the addition of Shoranur, the Vande Bharat train will have nine stops in Kerala. It will take 8 hours 5 minutes to travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod. The train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 5.20 am and reach Kasaragod at 1.25 pm. It will depart from Kasaragod at 2.30 pm.

Earlier, several leaders including Palakkad MP VK Sreekandan had asserted the necessity to introduce a stop for Vande Bharat at Shoranur asserting that the station serves as a crucial transportation hub for residents of three districts in the state.
Meanwhile, the flag-off ceremony of Vande Bharat Express will take place on April 25 at 10.30 am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony, but will not be part of the inaugural ride.
