Rail passengers in Kerala hit hard with late arrivals of trains
Kozhikode: After the derailment of the Mangalore Express at Karukutty, rail commuters are having a tough time with almost all trains in the state running late. Most of the Express trains are running behind schedule due to regulation of speed that has been fixed at 30 kms per hour.
Many of the long distance Express trains are running late by 1 hour to 5 hours. The passenger trains which are relied upon by most of the office-goers in the state are running late by 30 minutes to 2 hours and the passengers found it difficult to reach their destinations on time. The Vanchinad Express (16303), which the government staff in the capital city depend on, is running late by over an hour. The train, which has to reach Kollam by 8.30 am, reached only at 9.40 am.
Though the Mumbai-Kanyakumari Jayanti Janata Express reached Ernakulam on time on Wednesday, it had a late arrival at Kollam. The train reached Kollam at 9.50 am (scheduled time - 8.40). The Guruvayur-Thiruvananthapuram Express reached TVM an hour late at 10.45 am. The Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Mail is also running behind schedule by over an hour.
Besides, the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Express (16348) was late by over 13 hours due to engine repair. The train which has to begin its journey at 2.20 pm on Tuesday started its journey from Mangalore on Wednesday at 2.45 pm. Many trains from Mangalore and Thiruvananthapuram are having a delayed start.
The Maveli Express which has to reach Mangalore at 8 am, was delayed by 2.5 hours and reached only at 10.15 am. The Malabar Express too is running behind schedule and the Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express (16347) is delayed by over 3.5 hours.
The Nagercoil-Mangalore Parasuram Express is late by 1 hour while the Mangalore-Nagercoil Parasuram is behind schedule by 40 minutes. The Ernad Express from Nagercoil to Mangalore reached Thrissur one-and-a-half hours late and the 12076 Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode Jana Shatabdi is also having a late run. The Kerala Express from New Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram is late by 1 hour and the Ernakulam- Bilaspur Express is also delayed by over an hour. The TVM-Guruvayur Raptisagar Express is running late and the Thiruvananthapuram-Narasapur Sabari Express is 45 minutes late.
Trains passing through Konkan route are running behind schedule. Nizamuddin-Ernakulam Mangala Express is running late by 7 hours. The Netravati Express (16345) is also running behind schedule by 3.5 hours. The Lokmanya Tilak-Kochuveli Express (22113) is also late by 10 hours.
