Kochi: The City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said that the assault case against actor-producer Vijay Babu has is prima facie valid. He told Mathrubhumi News that all preliminary investigative measures have been completed in the case and that evidence collection from a few more places is pending.

The Kochi City Police have issued a look-out notice for Vijay Babu. DCP UV Kuriakose had earlier said that the actor was on the run following the allegations. However, Vijay Babu claimed he is not absconding but is in Dubai.

Police have raided the Nakshatra hotel in Kadavanthra and also the apartment of the actor. It is learned that the police have recovered crucial evidence in the case. He will be arrested as soon as he returns.

The actress filed a complaint against Vijay Babu on April 22, alleging he had sexually assaulted her promising roles in his movies. According to the complainant, the director sexually assaulted her multiple times at a flat in Kochi. The alleged crime happened between March 13 to April 14.

The actress had raised a serious sexual assault allegation against Vijay Babu, and to counter that, he revealed the actress’s name and said on a Facebook live that he was the ‘real victim.’

In response to that, the actress posted a detailed note on the Facebook page ‘Women Against Sexual Harassment’ raising charges of forceful sex and rape.
