Kochi: Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned PV Anvar MLA in Kochi concerning financial transactions involving a quarry in Belthangadi, Mangalore. The MLA who reached the ED office at 11.30 am could return only at 8.30 pm following nearly 9 hours of interrogation.

When enquired regarding the quizzing, PV Anvar mockingly replied that he was summoned to discuss India- Pakistan football match. He also asserted that he would say nothing about the interrogation.

Last July, ED received a complaint alleging that Anvar had extorted Rs 50 lakh from Salim, a native of Malappuram, in 2012, by assuring a 10 per cent share in a crusher in Baltangadi and a monthly dividend of Rs 50 lakh.

Following this, Salim furnished documents to substantiate his claims. Based on this, ED summoned Anvar for questioning on Monday.
