Quarantined foreign returnee dies in Kozhikode, COVID-19 test result comes out negative

Primary reports suggest that the cause of death was brain injury.

Kozhikode: Hours after a few anxious hours, the COVID-19 test result of a foreign returned man, who collapsed and died while in quarantine, has come out negative. Azhiyur native Hashim Mayan (69) who was under observation for COVID-19, collapsed and died on Saturday morning. He had returned from abroad 12 days back. After completing his institutional quarantine for seven days in a private hotel, he had returned home. His test result has come out as negative. 

Primary reports suggest that the cause of death was brain injury. He did not exhibit any kind of Covid-19 symptoms. He developed discomfort while he was staying at home. He died while he was being taken to Thalassery hospital. However, the healthcare authorities did not know about this.

Healthcare authorities said that they were not informed although they asked the patient to inform them in case of any symptoms.

After his death, the doctors and hospital staff who nursed him, were asked to go in quarantine. However, his coronavirus test result has turned negative.
