Rescue operation at the accident spot | by special arrangements

Kottayam: The death toll in Puthuppally accident where a car and KSRTC bus collided, has reached four. 10- year- old Amith, who was undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College, died on Saturday morning.

Amith is son of Kottayam native Jalaja, who too died in the accident. Out of the five people who were travelling in the car, four lost their lives, including Jalaja’s father Murali (70) and KK Jins (33). Another child who suffered serious injuries is undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College.

The accident took place near Vadakkekkara LP School in Kottayam on Friday. The car rammed into the KSRTC bus that was travelling to Ettumanoor from Changanassery.

The front part of the car was completely destroyed. The people who were trapped inside the car were rescued by Fire and Rescue personnel. The passengers in the KSRTC bus suffered minor injuries.
