Puthumala landslide: NDRF concludes search, 5 still missing
Wayanad: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel on Friday concluded the search operations to find the people reported missing in the landslide at Puthumala here. It is reported that five people are still missing after the landslide destructed the village.
The NDRF has stopped the search after seeking permission from the relatives of the missing people. At the same time, search for the missing will continue under the leadership of native residents.
Meanwhile, police and Fire and Rescue Service will continue the search for Hamsa, one among the five people who are missing. Hamsa’s son had requested the authorities to continue the search for Hamsa in the place close to the Masjid.
Bodies of 12 people were recovered from the 16 days long search at Puthumala. But for the last two days, NDRF personnel could not find the mortal remains of any of the missing people and observed that they were searching in vain.
Following this, the district administration summoned a meeting and decided to stop the search operations. NDRF, police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel took part in the meeting.
The relatives of the four missing people informed the officials that they are satisfied with the search operations and there was no need to continue the search.
Meanwhile, natives and Fire and Rescue Service personnel will continue the search operations at Pathumala Pachakkad from Monday.
