Kochi: The Attingal Pink Police officer Rajitha apologised unconditionally in the Kerala High Court for publicly humiliating the eight-year-old girl and her father.

The court will consider the application on December 15. HC also asked the government to file a counter-affidavit regarding the action to compensate the mental trauma of the child. The response of the government is important as the girl and her father had sought compensation.

The court has asked the doctor who counselled the child to appear via video conference. The court also directed the Rural District Police Chief of Thiruvananthapuram to take the child for counselling to the child protection officer and submit a report.

It was on August 28 that Rajitha accused Thonakkal native Jayachandran and his daughter of mobile theft. Rajitha publicly prosecuted the two. The father-daughter duo arrived at Attingal to watch the trailers carrying the chambers to the ISRO. However, the phone was later discovered in the police car. An onlooker had shot the scenes that went viral on social media.
