Thiruvananthapuram: The second notification for recruitment to Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) is yet to be ready. The first notification was issued in 2019. The delay in finding vacancies is the reason for the holdup in issuing notification.
If the notification is not issued by December 31, aspirants who will cross the age limit will lose their opportunity. As per KAS rules, vacancies must be listed once in two years.
In the first batch of KAS, 105 vacancies were identified. PSC has been unable to find new vacancies.
There have been complaints regarding the existing posts in the employment and treasury departments too. A committee chaired by the Chief Secretary was formed to investigate, correct the errors and amend the rules. But the committee has not yet filed any reports.
All of those who were selected in the first batch have not been appointed. Their training is in the final stage. New posts are not being created due to the economic crisis. Transferring current posts to KAS is also difficult as there is strong opposition from service organisations.
