Thiruvananthapuram: Reiterating his earlier stand, CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday informed that extending the validity of PSC rank lists is not possible. The statement comes a day before the validity of the certain ranks lists is supposed to end. The chief minister was responding to the adjournment motion notice moved by the opposition in the assembly.

The CM cited that despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation there was no delay in reporting the vacancies. If the validity of the rank lists is to be extended, it has to go through special legal requirements.

Extending the validity of PSC rank lists is something that comes under the purview of Administrative Tribunal, the CM pinpointed in the assembly. According to him, the argument that everyone from the list should be recruited is not right. The government is determined to make more appointments through PSC, while the opposition is taking a stand that affects the dignity of PSC, he added.

Meanwhile, the opposition staged a walk out after the Speaker rejected permission for presenting the adjournment motion requesting extension of validity of PSC rank lists. They alleged that government failed in reporting the vacancies and is attempting for an undeclared appointment ban.
