Kochi: Minister for Agriculture V. S. Sunil Kumar declared that the government has provided all facilities for other state workers staying in Kerala. Actions have been taken to ensure food, accommodation and medical care for the workers at 365 centres in the state.

He noted that all facilities were made under the leadership of tahsildars, village officers, local bodies, labour department and police.

The labour department will examine the quality of the food provided by the employers and contractors.

“Labour officers must assure whether the workers are getting proper food, accommodation and other facilities,” informed the minister.

At the same time, he revealed that the government has solved the problems at the model community kitchen.

“We are planning to provide Kerala food and north Indian food to the workers. Food menu will be displayed at the camps daily. The people in charge must record the details of labourers who have food at the camps,” said the minister.

A survey was conducted to record the number of migrant workers in major places, the minister said and added that labour officers will be directed to carry out physical verification of the workers.
