Kochi: After the Kerala High Court pointed out that there was ‘lack of clarity’ over an affidavit filed by Kannur University regarding the appointment of Priya Varghese, she put out a Facebook post hailing her association with the National Service Scheme (NSS). Priya also shared a picture of the NSS along with the post that mocked the High court’s criticism of her appointment. She later deleted the post.
The high court said on Wednesday that deputation as student director of NSS cannot be considered as teaching experience. The court also stated that appointments were not “child’s play” and asked whether the university had examined if Priya had the necessary qualifications when selection to the post of associate professor was made.
Priya had claimed in her application for the post that the said period amounted to teaching experience. The university accepted her claim and invited her for the interview, which she topped.
Joseph Zachariah, who obtained the second rank in the interview conducted by the Kannur University for the post of associate professor in Malayalam, had challenged the appointment of Priya Varghese. Joseph alleged that Priya did not have the teaching experience of eight years that was mandatory to apply for the post.
The facebook post comes at a time when the court is set to pronounce the judgement on Thursday.
Priya is wife of former MP and Chief Minister's private secretary KK Ragesh.
