Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that the opposition is using the Holy Quran, which is the religious text respected by the believers, as a tool for political agenda to disgrace the government. Kodiyeri also alleged that the ongoing protests by the opposition is an insult to the Quran. He stated this in an article published in the editorial page of the party mouthpiece.

There is huge political conspiracy behind the campaigns and protests organised by the opposition parties. They are scared of the government continuing and cook up stories to mislead the public. The opposition is offending the Quran. Both Congress and Muslim League are taking the same stand in this issue. UDF-BJP protest will end without any result, he added.

Communists treat all religious texts equally whether it is Quran, Bhagavad Gita or Bible. LDF is opposing protests as it insults the Quran. K T Jaleel need not resign as he has not committed any crime. Following the UAE consulate custom during Ramzan is not a crime. The Central agencies summoned him to record his statement, he stated.

Kodiyeri also said that if his son is involved in any illegal activities, he should face punishment. He asked the media to stop spreading baseless matters regarding party leaders. P K Kunhalikutty’s statement that their enemy is not BJP but CPM indicates they are allying with them, he stated.
