Protests demanding KT Jaleel's resignation enter 8th day; turn violent in Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode
Pathanamthitta: The protests organised by opposition parties demanding the resignation of Minister KT Jaleel has entered the eighth day. The Youth Congress protests in Kozhikode and Pathanamthitta turned violent and the police had to use water cannons and lathi charge against the protestors.
Hundreds of Youth Congress workers protested in front of Pathanamthitta collectorate. A large police unit was present as they were informed that more number of protestors would turn up. Police had to use water cannons against the protestors when they tried to break the barricades.
Police lathi-charged the activists when the protests continued in which many of them were injured.
Also, police used lathi charge against the Youth Congress protestors in Kozhikode. It is reported that 3 protestors were injured in the clash.
The police had to resort to lathi charge as the protestors did not retreat even when water cannons and tear gas were used against them.
The protest taken out by Yuva Morcha to minister VS Sunil Kumar’s residence in Thrissur also turned violent. Water cannons and lathi charge were used by police.
Yuva Morcha also marched towards Kasaragod collectorate demanding the resignation of KT Jaleel and MC Kamaruddin. Police used water cannons against the activists who tried to break the barricades.
