Thiruvananthapuram: Shankar Mohan who resigned from the director post of KR Narayanan National Institute of Visual Science and Arts (KRNNIVSA), Kottayam on Saturday interacted with Mathrubhumi News and shared the rationale behind his decision.

Shankar Mohan reiterated that his resignation has nothing to do with the ongoing student protest alleging caste discrimination in the institute.

"I approached the chairman and handed over my resignation as I am completing my tenure here. I informed him that at any moment he could intimate the matter to Chief Minister. He might have done that," he said.

"If we step aside, then ongoing protest could end right?" he asked.
Commenting on students' reaction that "It won't end here," Mohan exclaimed and asked, "The issues won't settle even if quit right?."

Earlier today, Shankar Mohan tendered his resignation to KRNNIVSA chairman Adoor Gopalakrishnan.

Meanwhile, a two-member panel appointed by the state government to probe issues raised by the students of the film institute has submitted its report to the Chief Minister. However, findings of the report are not yet available in the public domain.
