Thiruvananthapuram: The representatives of PSC rank holders who are staging protests outside the Secretariat on Monday held talks with Minister Kadakampally Surendran at his official residence here. The minister allotted time for meeting as requested by the LGS job candidates.
However, the protesters stated that the approach from the minister was disappointing and saddening.
“We tried to apprise the minister of our troubles. But he asked me my rank and stated that I will not get the job even if the rank list is extended for ten years. He then asked why was I protesting,” said Laya Rajesh, one of the representatives of the protesters who met with the minister.
However, the protesters refused to take the name of the minister publically.
“We have decided to continue with the protest if there is no positive response and to begin hunger strike from Monday evening. It is very clear that no minister or the government has no idea on why the PSC rank holders are protesting even after 28 days of protest. The minister responded as if the protest was to defame the government. But we are not protesting against the government and there is no politics in it,” Laya further stated.
The protesters also said the minister informed them that a chief secretary level meeting will be convened today and the issue will be discussed with the secretaries of each department.
