Protest March to Raj Bhavan: Show-cause notice served to Govt staff

Thiruvananthapuram: The state chief secretary has served a show-cause notice to several government employees for participating in LDF’s protest march to Raj Bhavan. In the notice, the government employees have been asked to cite the reason for quashing disciplinary action against them over violation of service rules.

On the other day, BJP circulated the visuals of the government employees who participated in the protest march. The Raj Bhavan also asked the chief secretary to furnish the Action Taken Report against the state government staff who participated in the protest march led by LDF.

Amidst this, the BJP state chief has moved a plea in the High Court against the government staff’s participation in the protest. While hearing the plea, the High Court directed the Chief Secretary to take appropriate action against the employees. As part of this, the Chief Secretary has issued a show-cause notice to the employees.

As per the service rule, government employees should not engage in any political activities during their service period.

On November 15, LDF led a massive protest march to Raj Bhavan over governor Arif Mohammed Khan's alleged interference in the higher education sector of Kerala.
