Kochi: Ernakulam North Police filed cases against 29 BJP workers who attacked a woman for criticising a pro-CAA function. The case has been registered following a complaint from Thiruvananthapuram native Athira.
The police have filed eight cases against BJP workers on the charges of intimidation and physical assault among others. North police station SI Anas told Mathrubhumi News that action will be taken after preliminary investigation.
Earlier, BJP commercial cell convener and Jana Jagratha committee coordinator Sajini had given a complaint against the woman. The investigation in the case is also progressing.

Sajini claims that the meeting was attended by invited guests only and that the woman trespassed into the area.
“She abused me, while I was speaking at the event. She also shouted that all the organisations affiliated to RSS and Viswa Hindu Parishath should be destroyed. When I asked her what her problem was, she tried to pick an argument with me,” Sajini told mathrubhumi.com.
It was on January 21 that Athira voiced her protest against a pro-CAA function. The footage of the incident went viral on social media.
