Protest against V Muraleedharan for justifying journalist who attacked female colleague
Thrissur: A group of women journalists protested against Union Minister V. Muraleedharan at the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) conference here on Saturday.
They questioned the minister’s remarks justifying the journalist who attacked his female colleague after trespassing into her residence at Thiruvananthapuram. They also expressed their disapproval of the remark.
Muraleedharan responded to them that all have the right to disagree and have freedom of speech. He was honouring award winners at the state conference of KUWJ. During his speech, the minister justified the accused and stated that he deserved equal rights.
Muraleedharan had also said that human rights of the accused should have been considered. It is not ideal to consider one person’s action as appropriate while calling another one as wrongdoer for doing the same thing, he added.
The women journalists protested and expressed their disagreement when the minister was about to leave after delivering his speech.
