Prosecutor, who handled Walayar case inefficiently, dismissed: CM
Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the rape case in which two minor girls were raped and murdered in Walayar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed in the assembly that the public prosecutor who was inefficient in handling the case has been sacked. Action has been taken against Latha Jayaraj who was the prosecutor in the case.
The chief minister had stated in the assembly the other day that strict action will be taken against those who had not handled the investigation and case proceedings efficiently. Minister A. K. Balan also informed the other day that the government received a report regarding the lapses that occurred in the case.
The chief minister further said that the best available lawyers will be appointed for the hearing of appeal in the case. Party has not intervened in the case. If the girls’ family demanded CBI probe, the government will take a favourable stand, he added.
