Kochi: The state government has been considering the proposal to shift the Kerala High Court (HC) from Kochi to Kalamassery. It has already identified a 27-acre land near HMT for the same. The move is based on the request raised by the HC.

Earlier, HC had requested the government for location change, citing space constraints in existing premises near Mangalavanam. Apart from this, the eco-sensitive zone mandates may pose a challenge to construction works in the future, HC pointed out in its request letter.

Government sources said that the final decision over the identified land rests with the administrative body of HC. A team from HC had a visit to site and they examined the new premises.
