Thiruvananthapuram: Allegations have been raised against promotions accorded to a particular section in Kerala Police. Moves for unlawful promotions are proceeding by publishing a combined seniority list of personnel in general executive and district and reserve police.

The officials who are against this alleged that the department justified their stand claiming the two sections were combined earlier in 2010.

In 2007 and 2008, PSC had announced examinations for these two posts under different category numbers. The rank lists were also published separately. Later the special rule had been amended and the appointments carried out after 2010 fell under the category of civil police. This will affect all promotions set in motion after 2010. The officers accused that it will eventually result in giving seniority to reserve inspectors and assistant commanders above the sub inspectors and deputy superintendents.

Though the special rules amendment will be delayed, the procedures to promote reserve sub inspectors as sub inspectors are proceeding on an emergency basis in the department, alleged the officers. They also accused the government of appointing reserve sub inspectors till 2015 even after introducing the system of civil police in 2010.
