Probe begins into Senkumar's derogatory remarks against actress
Thiruvananthapuram: Police have begun probe against former DGP TP Senkumar for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the actress, who was attacked early this year.
The probe has been initiated on a complaint filed by Women in Cinema Collective in Thiruvananthapuram. ADGP B Sandhya is in charge of the investigation. The case relates to Senkumar allegedly making derogatory remarks against the actress in an interview to a magazine.
The complaint was handed over to ADGP B Sandhya by the DGP. It is learnt that the probe team will take Senkumar’s statement in connection with the case. DGP Loknath Behra had received legal advice on the case.
ADGP B Sandhya had submitted a report to the government saying that Senkumar made insulting remarks against the attacked actress after he retired from service. Sandhya had also recommended to register a case under non-bailable sections against Senkumar.
A crime branch probe is already going on against Senkumar for making comments that instigate religious hatred in the same interview. The High Court had granted interim bail to Senkumar in the case.
