Kochi: The private bus owners announced they would observe a strike from June 7 onwards in the state. The bus strike would affect hundreds of people as the schools will be reopening for the next academic year from June 1 onwards.

At the same time, bus owners demand that there should be a revision in the students' ticket fares and an age limit to avail benefits of concession tickets.

A meeting convened by the bus owners’ joint protest committee in Ernakulam decided to observe a strike to press for their demands.

The committee also wants the government to implement the Justice Ramachandran Commission report, raising the minimum ticket fare to Rs 5, retaining limited stop buses and maintaining the current bus permits.
