Sulthan Bathery: The Private Bus Operators Association raised a protest against the confiscation of a private bus while conducting service in Wayanad.

The office-bearers of the association alleged that Sundaram Finance had misled the court to obtain a favourable order to confiscate the bus ‘Sreehari’ which conducted service on Mananthavady- Bavali route. They claim that the owner had already paid back an amount equivalent to the principal for the loan worth Rs 14 lakh. But he could not reimburse the interest during the Covid- induced lockdown.

He has to repay Rs 7.40 lakh more to the financial institution. Though he promised to pay Rs 3 lakh soon and requested to renew the loan, the institution did not pay heed to it.

The association warned to initiate a protest in front of the institution if they continue with the procedures of confiscation.

The district president PK Haridas, general secretary MM Ranjith Ram, CA Mathew and PV George attended the press conference.
