Principal booked under POCSO for sending obscene messages to girl student in Kozhikode

Vadakara (Kozhikode): The Chombala police arrested a school principal for allegedly sending obscene messages to a girl student via mobile phone. The accused has been identified as Balakrishnan (53), a native of Orkkatteri, Kozhikode. He has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to the complaint, the principal had sent obscene WhatsApp messages to a Class 12 girl of the school. The girl opened up about the incident to her classmates on Monday morning. Following which, the students called the police and lodged a complaint against the principal.

The police arrived at the school around noon and took Balakrishnan into custody. They also recorded a detailed statement of the girl. The arrest was registered around night.

Meanwhile, Kozhikode Muslim Students Federation (MSF) demanded ouster of the principal from all official posts and take strict action against him.
