Kochi: The prime accused in the Vithura rape case has been arrested.
Crime Branch officials arrested Suresh from Hyderabad. He is wanted in around 20 other cases.
The Vithura case took place in 1996. Suresh, who was absconding after the case was registered surrendered before the court in 2014 after 18 years. After serving time in prison for a year, Suresh went absconding after coming out on bail.
A team of Crime Branch officials from Ernakulam led by SP Muhammad Rafeek arrested Suresh from Hyderabad.
A native of Kadakkal in Kollam, Suresh was arrested for raping a minor girl. He went absconding while the victim’s hearing was progressing in court.
