PR works to idolize Health Minister caused spike in COVID-19 cases: Mullappally Ramachandran
Kozhikode: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has raised a sharp criticism against the state government over the spike in COVID-19 cases. He alleged that Kerala topped in COVID-19 cases in India following the attempts to idolize Health Minister KK Shailaja.
“During the initial phase of the virus outbreak, the government was vigilant to prevent the spread. The opposition also supported the preventive measures. Later, the government started doing PR works to idolize Health Minister KK Shailaja. They were in a hurry to prove that they were performing a miracle. Following this, the government failed to give required attention to the spread of COVID-19. As a result of this, the state witnessed a huge spike in positive cases,” criticised the Congress leader.
“When I made a remark on the Health Minister, everyone attacked me. But now, the situation has crossed the limits which I have mentioned. The government tried to glorify the Health Minister through PR work. They wanted to transform KK Shailaja from the position of a princess to queen,” alleged Mullappally.
He pointed out that the health sector in Kerala was not developed by CPM. Mullappally also questioned the health department’s response in the present COVID situation.
“I don’t have any personal grudge agasint the Health Minister. She wanted to handle everything smoothly. But the CPM tried to idolize her,” pointed out Mullappally.
“In the Life Mission scam, the probe agency is hesitating to collect evidence from the Chief Minister. If an impartial probe is carried out, the Chief Minister and some other ministers will end up in jail. If the probe is carried out to unveil the corruption, the CM, who is the chairman of Life Mission, should be interrogated. The Chief Minister has been continuously trying to interrupt the CBI probe,” alleged Mullappally.
