Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission will examine on Tuesday the board request to sanction salary expenses of 6196 employees. If the Commission accedes to the request of the Board, the operational expenses will increase by Rs 350 crore which inturn will be reflected in the power tariff. It is learnt that unit charge will be hiked by at least 15 paise.
Meanwhile, the regulatory Commission has approved an employee strength of 27,175 individuals until 2009. The Commission felt that the strength is enough for the operations of KSEB. Now, KSEB maintains that 33,371 individuals are required for the operations. In this regard the KSEB raised a request with the Commission by citing increase in number of connections and improvement of allied services.
The stand of the Commission was not to raise expenses on employees in an unjustified manner and it always had directed the KSEB to increase efficiency.
