Alappuzha: White ration cardholders will get reduced rice in the month of August. Only 8 kg will be distributed in August and it was 10 kg till last month. The portion was reduced as the Centre did not allow enough staple items.

The state ensures 2 kg of ration rice for each member of a family owning a blue card. But there will be changes in the amount distributed amongst white card holders depending on the variations in availability.

If for a particular month, the number of people buying ration items decreases, the shares will be increased next month and if the number of people buying ration items increases, the shares will be decreased.
