KSSP former general secretary and singer V K Sasidharan passes away

Kollam: Activist and Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad former general secretary V K Sasidharan, 83, passed away on Wednesday early morning.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Changanassery due to post-Covid-19 complications. He was in the ICU.

Sasidharan was at the helm of the Kollam district committee of the KSSP for a long time. He led the organisation in the state level in 1977-78. His songs like Mullanezhi's 'Amma' and 'Neelakasam' were very popular among the kids’ movement ‘Balavedi’. He used songs as a campaign method to spread the messages of the organisation.

He has composed several poems of Malayalam writers. His most famous work is the composition of 'Poothappattu' of Edasseri Govindan Nair. He has also composed Thirunalloor Karunakaran's 'May Dinam'.

Born in Paravur, Sasidharan completed his studies at Aluva UC college and Thiruvananthapuram Government Engineering College. He has worked as faculty at Sree Narayana Polytechnic.
