Poor response to biometric attendance in Secretariat
Thiruvananthapuram: The response to the biometric attendance system implemented at the Secretariat from January 1 this year is poor, according to official figures. After the completion of a month since the implementation of the biometric attendance system, it has been found that majority of the employees are in the list of late-comers.
The General Administration Secretary has issued a show cause notice to the late-comers as to why the government should not consider each day of late entry as a half-day leave.
Surprisingly, the Chief Secretary and General Administration Secretary have also come in the list of employees who arrived late.
The notice has been issued to employees to submit an explanation as to why the government should not consider the days of late arrival (punching after 10.15 am)as a half-day leave.
Meanwhile, the Opposition organizations are preparing to launch an agitation saying that the list of employees who arrived late has been prepared unscientifically. They also allege that personal staff of ministers were excluded from the list.
The government made biometric attendance compulsory from January 1.
