Polling not to be postponed for now, says Teeka Ram Meena
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief electoral officer Teeka Ram Meena said here on Monday that the bypolls that is progressing in the state will not be postponed taking the present situation into account inspite of the heavy rains that continues to lash the state. He told mediapersons that the situation in Ernakulam constituency especially Kochi is a matter of concern and this is being monitored.
Teeka Ram Meena said he is in regular contact with the Ernakulam district collector and the district administration is making all efforts for smooth polling. Water has entered 10 booths and these booths have been shifted. Directions have been issued to supervise all booths.
At present, polling is underway and there is no need to put it off. In Konni, smooth polling is progressing in almost all areas. In some areas where booths have been waterlogged, it has been shifted to the upper floors and arrangements are made to help those who have come to cast their votes.
