Actor Gibin Gopinath nabs thief while stealing stereo from his car

Thiruvananthapuram: A cop nabbed a thief while stealing the stereo from his car near Plamoodu road in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday evening. The police officer Gibin Gopinath, who caught the thief is also an actor in Malayalam movie industry.

The accused Vilavoorkal native Nitheesh (24) is a staff at a renowned car showroom in Thiruvananthapuram. He had arrived to steal the stereo in his brother’s auto rickshaw.

Gibin had parked his car in the lane near his house. He noticed an auto rickshaw parked near his car when he went out to buy chocolates for his children. Gibin spotted the accused on the driving seat of the car. The latter had already removed the stereo, monitor and camera from the car. When Gibin questioned the thief, he attempted to escape by handing over the stolen objects to Gibin. However, Gibin caught the accused and handed him over to the Museum police with the help of the locals.

Police have seized many ATM cards and Rs 10,000 from the accused. An investigation has been launched to find if the accused had committed any similar offences.
