Police to question Kannur teacher mentioned in student’s suicide note

Kannur: Police will record the statement of the teacher who was mentioned in the suicide note of a class 8 student of the AKG Government Higher Secondary School in Peralassery. The teacher had allegedly chided the girl for spreading ink on the desk in the classroom.

Riya Praveen killed herself on Thursday. She was reportedly desolated by the rebuke of the teacher.

The teacher has not been charged yet. It will be decided only after the questioning.

State Human Rights Commission has also sought a report from the police on the matter.
