Kochi: Police have tightened security at NIA office here after minister KT Jaleel reached for interrogation. A team of police under DCP G Poonkuzhali has placed high security measures on the compound of NIA office.
The security arrangements were placed after the minister reached here around 6 am on Thursday. Police placed barricades on the road to NIA office blocking other vehicles.
Two roads to the NIA office were also blocked with barricades.
The state has been witnessing huge protests demanding minister Jaleel’s resignation for the last few days. Hence, police force was deployed on the premises of NIA office and security tightened after examining chances of protest in front of the NIA office.
Earlier, protesters gathered in front of NIA office when gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh was taken for interrogation here. The protesters also tried to barge into the office compound. Considering all these incidents, police have placed high security at NIA office and premises.
