Kozhikode: Police seized around 2,203 grams of gold worth around Rs 1 crore from two passengers who arrived at Karipur International Airport here on Thursday.
The smuggled gold was seized from Wayanad native K Danish (24) and Malappuram native Abdurahman (32). Danish carrying 1,010 grams of gold arrived by Indigo flight from Abu Dhabi, while Abdurahman carrying 1,013 grams of gold arrived by Indigo flight from Jeddah.
This is the latest incident reported in which a carrier gets busted in the continuing crackdown against gold smuggling through the airport. Cops seized 1.5 kg of gold worth over Rs 70 lakh from two passengers here the other day.
