Iqbal and Ismail
Kondotty: Karipur police have seized one kilogram of gold smuggled by a passenger at Karipur airport here on Monday.Nadapuram Ismail (32) and Nanminda Iqbal (45) were arrested over the case. Iqbal came to receive Ismail who came in the Air India Express from Doha at 11 pm on Monday. The car they were travelling in was also taken into custody.
The gold which was in powder form was found hidden inside the body of Ismail. The two were arrested after the police found something suspicious about the duo at the help desk in the Airport terminal.
X-ray examination revealed that Ismail had hidden gold inside his body. The gold was found hidden in four capsules. Both were taken into custody and handed over to customs. It is for the third time, the police have seized gold after opening a help desk at the airport.
