Thiruvananthapuram: Senior leader and former MLA P C George, who was arrested for his hate speech on Sunday, will be medically examined at the AR camp itself. After the medical examination, he will be taken to the house of the magistrate. As Sunday is a holiday for court, he will be produced before the magistrate’s house.
Police have sought custody of P C George for 14 days. In the remand report, police have opined that if the former MLA is let out on bail then it is likely that he may threaten the witnesses.
The remand report states that P C George had attempted to create a communal divide among the society. If he is given bail then there are chances for the investigation to be hindered.
The cases slapped against him has no evidence or recovery. The counsel of P C George may argue for his bail pointing out his age.
Senior Kerala politician P C George was arrested by police on Sunday for his alleged controversial remarks against Muslims.
He was taken into custody early in the morning from his residence in Erattupetta in Kottayam district and taken by road, in his personal vehicle, to the Thiruvananthapuram AR Camp where his arrest was formally recorded for the offence of promoting enmity between different religious groups under section 153A of the IPC.
George was taken into custody by officers from the Thiruvananthapuram Fort police station on the directions of the state police chief Anil Kant. The FIR was lodged against him on Saturday.
