Kottayam: Kottayam District Police Chief K. Karthik said that he had received the suicide note of Shraddha Satheesh, a graduate student of Amal Jyothi Engineering College. The note does not blame anyone for her suicide and simply states, "I am going." He assured that the crime branch will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

He added that the police did not take any aggressive measures against the protesting students. It is understood that the students' misconduct was a result of the shock and grief caused by the loss of their classmate. The district police chief also assured that the police department is committed to not taking any action that could further distress the students mentally.

Meanwhile, the family of Shraddha disputes the claim made by Kottayam SP regarding the suicide note. According to them, the note mentioned by the police chief is not a suicide note at all. It is a piece of paper, dated 2022, with English writing in Shraddha's handwriting that reads, "The black pant is on the bed, I am going."

Also, the family shared a screenshot with the media, which was taken last October 18, showing Shraddha sharing the note on Snapchat. Expressing their lack of trust in the police, the family stated that the existence of such a paper being portrayed as a suicide note by the authorities has significantly eroded their faith in the police.

The family said that it was clear from the beginning that the police were favouring the college management. They expressed their trust in the ministers who visited the college and held discussions, but they have lost faith in the police investigation.

When questioned about the absence of interrogation of HOD and other relevant officials, the police inspector claimed that they were absconding. However, it is widely known that they have been seen publicly seen on the college premises, and no official notification regarding the involvement of the crime branch in the investigation has been released so far.
