Thiruvananthapuram: Police registered the arrest of actor and producer Vijay Babu in connection with the complaint lodged by a fellow actor accusing charges of sexual assault. The accused will be taken soon for collecting evidence in the case. However, he will be let out on station bail. The HC while granting bail to the actor had said that if the police wanted to arrest him, he should be released on bail executing a bond for Rs 5 lakh with two solvent sureties each with the like sum.
Another arrest is likely to follow based on the case for revealing the name of the survivor through social media.
The bench of Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas had directed the actor to surrender before the investigating officer on June 27 at 9 am for interrogation. The petitioner can be interrogated for the next seven days, added Justice Thomas. Hence, his arrest was registered when he arrived at the Aluva police club on the first day of interrogation.
The Kerala High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Vijay Babu, and had asked him to surrender before the investigating officer on June 27 for interrogation.
