Police raid at RSS district office in Nedumangad; Weapons, chemicals seized
Thiruvananthapuram: Police raided the RSS district office at Nedumangad here in connection with the bomb attack on the Nedumangad police station during the hartal held by the Sabarimala Karma Samiti with the support of the BJP.
The officials seized daggers, scythes and hydrogen peroxide, a chemical substance used to make crude bombs, from the spot.
The police have also found evidence of Praveen, the accused in the bombing case, using the office as a hideout. The police recovered a receipt of a courier that was sent to Praveen. The officials had received a tip off that Praveen was hiding in the office.
On hartal day, four bombs were hurled at the Nedumangad police station. The officials ran to safety. Media had received CCTV footage of Praveen hurling bombs at the police station. Praveen is absconding. Police had arrested Vishnu, a native of Nooranad, who tried to help Praveen.
Police have arrested several protesters including the BJP Nedumangad area president in connection with the hartal violence. At Aanad near Nedumangad, a group of BJP activists had attacked police officers. The policemen were trying take several protesters into custody for trying to force a shop to close. Several have been arrested in this connection also.
