
Kozhikode: The police officers in Kasaba police station here are heartbroken for not being able to pay homage to their collegue who died in a road accident the other day. Perambra Karuvannoor native Saleesh, civil police officer at Kasaba station, had died after his bike hit a telephone post on Thursday.
As coronavirus prevention protocol exists, the fellow police officers could not assemble for the funeral or offer Guard of Honour. Following this, they paid tribute to the colleague at diferent places and different times maintaining social distance.
Kannur Range DIG K Sethuraman, Nadapuram ASP Ankith Ashokan, Kerala Police Association district president V P Pavithran, Kerala Police Officers Association district treasurer V K Vinod and City Police Chief A V George paid homage to the late officer.
A V George told Mathrubhumi that the city police had to follow this way of paying tribute understanding the emotional trauma of the officers. He added that they will conduct a commemoration meeting in police club after the coronavirus is contained.
