Police finally nab TVM vehicle thief who was absconding for 18 years

Kozhikode: VA Anil, a history sheeter, who has been booked in various vehicle theft cases and was absconding for 18 years, was arrested by the Crime Branch. The 54-year-old man from Thiruvananthapuram’s Kunnukuzhy was arrested based on the confidential information received by P Vikraman, SP Kozhikode Crime Branch.

Anil, who was under the scanner of police for various vehicle theft cases, fled to Tamil Nadu in 2004. He and his aides had the practice of scrapping vehicles and also involved in sales.

He bought land in Nagercoil and was in vehicle merchandise. Later, he started a vehicle sales centre in Thiruvananthapuram.

The police have been on the hunt for his four aides also, who are booked in 12 cases. One of them passed away, while three of them are still on the run.

Anil was produced before Kunnamangalam Court and has been remanded.
