Police fabricated video of Maoist encounter: CPI
Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state assistant secretary Prakash Babu said that the video released by the police claiming to be the evidence for Maoist encounter in Attappadi was fabricated. It was Prakash Babu who led the CPI representative team that visited the encounter spot in Attappadi forest.
“We understood that the news of encounter in Manjakkandi was fake when we visited the place. We talked with the tribal group chief and their people. The shed seen there was built by the police a few days before. But they claimed that the Maoists were using the shed. When we visited he place we understood that the Maoists were shot to death by police, while they were having food,” Prakash Babu said.
The visuals in the video released by the police were fabricated. Everyone lies down during shooting. But they have to state who captured the visuals standing up at that time. The abnormality can be understood while watching the visuals. It is hard to believe that Manivasagan fired when a huge force of Thunderbolt was present there, Prakash Babu said.
The police are misleading even the government. The chief minister stated that it was an encounter based on the police report, Prakash Babu said. In response to the arrest of two youths in Kozhikode for distributing Maoist brochures, he asked how propagating an ideology and distributing posters is perceived as an offence.
Nobody can be arrested in India for spreading an ideology. This incident took place when Left wing organisations are demanding lifting of UAPA. The police have to give explanation for this act. Some officials shift from the declared stand of the government, Prakash Babu said.
