Police confirm bullets seized from Kozhikode were manufactured in 4 different nations

The discarded bullets seized from Nellikkode

Kozhikode: The live bullets discarded near the National Highway at Nellikode in Kozhikode were found manufactured from Germany, Britain, USA and India. This has been confirmed in the inspection conducted under the Sub Inspector of Armour division. The investigation team had sent emails to the companies that manufactured the bullets. The progress in investigation was discussed in a meeting convened under City police chief A Akbar.

It has been evaluated that finding the owner of the bullets might be difficult as the covers of the bullet boxes with the batch numbers were missing. Police had found 266 live bullets stored in five boxes from an abandoned plot near the highway. Though there was cover on a box, the batch number has faded from it.

In a preliminary examination, the bullets were found to be 5 to 20 years old. In order to confirm this, a team under Armour DySP from Thiruvananthapuram will arrive in Kozhikode to inspect the bullets. By the end of this week, the bullets will be submitted in the court and sent for ballistic examination. The investigation team had probed to find any connection with the bullet missing cases from the arms trading units of Kerala. But police could not find any significant links.
