Thiruvananthapuram: The cantonment Police here on Wednesday has registered a fresh case against the gold smuggling case accused Swapana Suresh on a complaint filed by MLA KT Jaleel. In his complaint, Jaleel alleged that Swapana raised allegations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others as part of a conspiracy.
It is learnt that the police registered the case after seeking legal advice from the prosecution deputy director.
As per reports, along with Swapna Suresh, PC George will be named as the accused in the case. The case was registered under IPC 120 B and 153 which pertains to criminal conspiracy and deliberately giving provocation with intent to cause riot.
A special investigation team led by a senior official will be formed to probe into KT Jaleel’s complaint.
In his complaint, Jaleel alleged that there is a conspiracy hatched by Swapna Suresh, former MLA PC George and BJP.
"Allegations against me are baseless. This is a BJP and UDF conspiracy. They are trying to tarnish the image of the existing government. This conspiracy should be investigated," said Jaleel.
Swapna Suresh had on Tuesday revealed that she has declared in court about the involvement of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his wife and daughter in the 2020 gold smuggling case.
Swapna also alleged that there is a threat to her life and that she has sought protection.
"I have already given 164 statements in court about a threat to my life. I have declared in court about all the people involved in this case. I have also filed a petition seeking protection in court. They are considering it. I have declared in the court about what is the involvement of M Sivasankar (then principal secretary to Kerala CMO), the Chief Minister, CM's wife Kamala, CM's daughter Veena, his secretary CM Raveendran, then Chief Secretary Nalini Netto IAS, then minister KT Jaleel," she said.
