Pathanamthitta: Police stopped a 12-year-old girl who had come to offer prayers at Sabarimala along with her father on Tuesday. The girl was present in a group that came from Tamil Nadu and belonged to Belur. The police action came after checking the documents of the girl. The women police stopped the girl at Pampa and allowed only the father to enter Sannidhanam.

Following a directive to allow only girls below the age of 10 and women above 50 into the temple complex, police are undertaking strict checking to ascertain the temple rules are not violated.

The Sangh Parivar announced that women will be blocked if temple rituals are violated. As police themselves conduct the checking and allow pilgrims into the Sannidhanam, there were no protests this time. 10 women who had reached the temple from Andhra the other day were sent back by the police from Pampa.
